Johnny Logan and his Band

Johnny Logan and his Band | Vicar Street

In 1980 Johnny Logan won the Eurovision Song Contest singing What’s Another Year. In 1987 he won the contest for the 2nd time with his own composition “Hold Me Now.” He went on to win the contest for a 3rd time in 1992 as the composer of Why Me. No other artist or composer has achieved this success in Eurovision history before or since.

Over the years he has continued to record and tour successfully throughout Europe. Probably one of the most consistent and recognised artists to have come out of the song contest.

He recently had double platinum CDs in Scandinavia as well as successful releases in Germany, Austria & Switzerland. It’s taken 30 years since, Hold Me Now“ but this year he finally releases a CD with12 new compositions entitled It Is What It Is. This CD, he feels is the natural successor to his 1987 winning song.

In Johnny’s words,”It took me a year to to write this CD and a year to record it but it’s really been a labour of love and I have more pride in this CD than anything else I’ve worked on in the last 30 years.

“I put my heart and soul into the CD, it’s full of different styles of music, memories and moments, it was such a pleasure to record.
It’s a CD with everything from Rock and Roll ( House of Lucille ) to the natural follow up to Hold Me Now ( Forever and a Day).

It’s taken 30 years for Johnny Logan to get here but like most good things when you listen to this CD, you will feel it was worth the wait. He’s happy with where he is finally and it shows in his music.

The Bee Gees Story: Nights on Broadway

Nights On Broadway present a tribute to the Bee Gees through a fantastic live concert, featuring the Gibb Brothers incredible songs, from over four decades, from the 60s to the 90s. This show gives the audience the experience of being at a Bee Gees concert, with a unique blend of classic hits, acoustic medleys and dance floor fillers. The total song writing virtuosity of the Gibb Brothers is not neglected, where possible guest artists complement the show, appearing as some of the musical legends, such as Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion and Diana Ross, that recorded songs specially written for them by the Bee Gees.

Also known as the “Irish Bee Gees” all the performers are from Ireland with the exception of their talented English Musical Director, JBlack, who also lives in Dublin. The show is a totally live concert experience, with a seven-piece band that pride themselves on musical authenticity, and in particular the accurate recreation of the vocal talents and harmonies of the Bee Gees.

Whether you favour the golden era of the 60s, the dance floor hits of the 70s, the comeback hits of the 80s & 90s or the string of hits they wrote for various artists along the way, this show has something to entertain everyone from the novice to the most discerning fan. Costume changes compliment the show to give a full Bee Gees Concert Experience. The show has thrilled and amazed capacity audiences in theatres across Ireland and the UK, who have been unable to stay in their seats through the show, needing to dance and cheer for this incredible band.

Celebrating CALLAS | The Life and Music of Maria Callas

“CALLAS” is the world’s first stage show about the legendary opera star Maria Callas. The show explores her famous love affair with Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, who left Callas in 1968 to marry President JFK’s widow, Jackie Kennedy. Drawing remarkable parallels between her personal life and the roles she played on stage, “CALLAS” is a fascinating insight into one of the most enigmatic and iconic performers of the 20th Century.

Maria Callas is played by the sensational Sinead Campbell-Wallace. She is joined by the brilliant Irish baritone Gavan Ring in the role of Onassis and much-loved UK tenor Alexander James Edwards as Meneghini. The show is narrated by the voice of acclaimed British actor Simon Callow CBE (Four Weddings & a Funeral; A Room With A View; Amadeus).

Presenting world-famous music from operas such as ‘Madame Butterfly’, ‘La Bohème’, ‘Tosca’, ‘Carmen’, ‘La Traviata’, ‘The Pearl Fishers’, “CALLAS” is the most popular opera-themed show ever to be staged in the history of Irish theatre with over 15,000 seats sold.
