Iconic opera star Maria Callas died on September 16th 1977. On this the 40th anniversary of her death, CELEBRATING CALLAS honours her legacy as one of the greatest performers of all time.

Stunning Irish soprano Máire Flavin, regarded by many as the upcoming voice of her generation, takes the title role.

Ms Flavin recently delighted NCH audiences with her glorious soprano voice at the New Year’s Day concerts and her dramatic interpretation of Mimì in La Bohème for Opera Theatre Company was hailed as “a force of nature that swept through the isles” by the Sunday Times.

“I saw Máire onstage in the Gaiety Theatre and I was struck by how much she resembled Maria Callas,” says Niall Morris, the show’s producer. “Her physical appearance, dramatic intensity and her powerful voice had the audience enthralled. I immediately knew she would be perfect to play the title role in CALLAS.”

Ms Flavin is joined by the charismatic Irish baritone Gavan Ring and the brilliant UK tenor Alexander James Edwards, who thrilled NCH audiences as Luciano Pavarotti in the hit show Nessun Dorma.

Written & produced by Niall Morris, CALLAS is the most popular opera-themed show ever to be staged at the National Concert Hall, with an unprecedented run of 14 sold out performances over five years. This is the final ever performance, so don’t miss a piece of music history with a truly stellar cast.
